SEEDINVEST Acceleration Programme 2026 — How Nigerian Small Business Owners Can Get Asset Grants and Free Business Training

Most grant programmes in Nigeria give you cash and leave you to figure out the rest. SEEDINVEST does something different.

The SEEDINVEST Acceleration Programme by the Biodun and Ibikunle Foundation gives Nigerian small business owners asset grants, meaning they give you the actual equipment or machinery your business needs, alongside six weeks of intensive business training, mentorship and advisory services. The portal is open right now and applications are online.

If your business is registered, has been running for at least one year and you are between 22 and 45 years old, you can apply today.

What is the SEEDINVEST Acceleration Programme?

SEEDINVEST is a flagship programme of the Biodun and Ibikunle Foundation, a Lagos-based non-profit organisation with a mandate to equip 10,000 African entrepreneurs in 10 years with asset grants and business training.

The foundation was established to drive entrepreneurial development across Nigeria and Africa by providing small business owners with the practical tools, training and support they need to build sustainable enterprises. Since launching, the programme has supported hundreds of businesses across Nigeria across all sectors.

The programme is not about giving you money and hoping for the best. It is structured — you go through a six-week acceleration period first, then asset grants are awarded to businesses that demonstrate readiness and potential.

What SEEDINVEST Actually Gives You

This is important to understand before you apply, SEEDINVEST does not give cash grants. Here is exactly what they provide:

Asset grants ;  business equipment and machinery relevant to your specific business, not cash

Expert-led virtual masterclasses; six weeks of structured online business training

Mentorship and advisory services; ongoing expert guidance to help you navigate business challenges

Business acceleration support ; structured programme designed to sharpen your business model, operations and growth strategy

The asset grant model means what you receive is directly tied to growing your business. You can't spend it on personal needs, it goes straight into your operation.

How the Programme Works — Step by Step

Stage 1 — Application

Apply online at biodunandibikunle.org/application-form. You will be required to share a video pitch as part of your application, record this before starting the form. The pitch should cover who you are, what your business does, the impact it has created and why you should be selected.

Stage 2 — Shortlisting

Your application and pitch are reviewed by the foundation team. Not everyone who applies gets shortlisted. If you are successful you will receive an email notification.

Stage 3 — Six-Week Online Acceleration Period

Shortlisted businesses participate in a six-week intensive online acceleration programme covering business management, financial literacy, operations, marketing and growth strategy. This is where you prove your business is ready for the assets grant.

Deadline  : 24th July 2026

What You Need Before You Apply

Prepare these before opening the application form:

  • Your CAC registration documents
  • A recorded video pitch , keep it under 2 minutes, shoot it in your work environment, speak clearly and confidently
  • Your 5-year business plan, this does not have to be a lengthy document but must show your revenue projections, growth strategy and how the asset grant will be used
  • Your TIN number
  • Your business bank account details
  • Any product certifications if your business requires them (NAFDAC, SON etc)

Insider Tips for a Strong Application

Your video pitch is critical : past cycles show that applicants who record a clear, compelling pitch in their actual work environment perform significantly better than those who record from home or use generic backgrounds. Show your business in action

Be specific about the asset you need ; the foundation gives equipment relevant to your business. Know exactly what equipment would transform your productivity and mention it in your pitch and application

Show impact already created; how many people has your business employed? How many customers have you served? Impact is a major selection criterion. Even small numbers matter , mention them

Your business plan must have real numbers; projected revenue, current costs, growth targets. Vague plans with no financial substance get overlooked

Apply early; The earlier you apply the better your chances of being included in the current cohort

Common Mistakes to Avoid

  • Applying without a CAC registration , this is the first filter and non-negotiable
  • Submitting a video pitch with poor audio or shot in a noisy environment — if the reviewer cannot hear you clearly it creates a poor first impression
  • Not having a TIN, get this from any FIRS office or online at tin.jtb.gov.ng before applying
  • Expecting cash , SEEDINVEST gives asset grants not cash. If your primary need is cash flow, this programme may not be the right fit at this time
  • Applying as a brand new business , your business must have been running for at least one year
