iDICE Growth Lab 2026 — Nigerian Tech Startups Can Access $100,000 Equity Investment and Up to $250,000 Follow-On (Deadline: August 19)

If you have been building a tech startup in Nigeria and you are past the idea stage — you have users, revenue or documented demand — iDICE just opened the door to $100,000 in equity investment and up to $250,000 more if you hit growth milestones.

The iDICE Growth Lab is now accepting applications from Nigerian tech founders aged 18 to 35. Deadline is August 19, 2026. This is not a grant, it is equity investment. But it comes with structured support, investor readiness training and a pathway to serious follow-on capital that most Nigerian startups never access.

What is iDICE Growth Lab?

The iDICE Growth Lab is the advanced tier of the iDICE Startup Bridge programme - backed by the Federal Government of Nigeria, African Development Bank, French Development Agency (AFD), Islamic Development Bank (IsDB) and the Bank of Industry. It sits above the Founders Lab and is designed specifically for startups that have already proven their concept and are ready to scale.

Where the Founders Lab was about building and validating, the Growth Lab is about scaling and raising. Selected startups get structured growth support, access to key industry experts, market expansion pathways and direct equity investment to fuel that growth.

What You Get

- $100,000 equity-based investment : paid in cash or Naira equivalent at 7.5% equity. Terms and conditions apply

- Up to $250,000 in follow-on investment : available subject to meeting defined growth milestones after the programme

- Structured growth support : a tailored programme designed around your specific business and growth stage

- Investment readiness training : prepare properly to raise institutional capital beyond iDICE

- Access to key industry experts : mentors, advisors and operators across fintech, agritech, healthtech, logistics and more

- Market expansion pathways : structured support to take your business beyond its current market

Who Should Apply

This programme is specifically for startups that are past the early stage. You must meet ALL of these:

- Nigerian citizen living and resident in one of the six geopolitical zones of Nigeria

- Founder aged between 18 and 35 years

- Startup has been in operation for no more than 12 months at Growth Lab stage

- Startup operating in Nigeria with Nigeria as the primary market

- Currently at post-MVP stage — you have built something and tested it

- Evidence of market validation — users, pilots, revenue, partnerships or documented demand signals

- Willingness to accept equity-based investment under iDICE terms — this is not a grant, they take 7.5% equity

Female founders are strongly encouraged to apply.

The Equity Question — Read This Before You Apply

This is the most important thing to understand about the Growth Lab.

iDICE takes 7.5% equity in your business in exchange for the $100,000 investment. This means they become a part-owner of what you are building.

Is that worth it? Here is how to think about it:

If your startup is currently worth nothing on paper, giving up 7.5% for $100,000 means iDICE is valuing your business at approximately $1.33 million. That is a reasonable early-stage valuation for a post-MVP Nigerian tech startup with traction.

If you hit your growth milestones and unlock the additional $250,000 follow-on, you have accessed $350,000 in total capital — still at that same 7.5% equity. That is an extremely favourable deal by any standard.

Only apply if you are genuinely comfortable with having an institutional investor as a stakeholder. If you want to keep 100% ownership, look at the non-equity grant programmes on this blog instead.

Insider Tips for a Strong Application

- Your market validation evidence is everything : he Growth Lab is post-MVP only. Do not apply if you are still building. Show paying customers, active users, signed pilots, documented demand, revenue — whatever you have. Specific numbers matter more than strong language

- Know your valuation story : since this is equity investment, you will be asked about your business valuation. Have a clear, defensible number and the logic behind it. Investors do not expect perfection but they expect founders who understand their own numbers

- Show why Nigeria first : iDICE is a Nigerian programme. Your application must show that Nigeria is your primary market and that you understand the Nigerian customer, the Nigerian regulatory environment and the Nigerian competitive landscape specifically

- Demonstrate 12 months of operational history : the eligibility says startups in operation for no more than 12 months at Growth Lab stage. Have your founding date, incorporation date and operational timeline clear and documented

- Female founders : explicitly mention this : the programme specifically encourages female founder applications. If you are a female founder or have female co-founders, state this prominently in your application

Common Mistakes to Avoid

- Applying at idea or MVP stage : this is a Growth Lab, not a Founders Lab. You need evidence the idea works

- Confusing this with the Founders Lab : these are two different programmes with different requirements. Growth Lab = post-MVP, equity investment. Founders Lab = early stage, non-equity grant

- Not understanding the equity terms before applying — read the terms and conditions carefully before you submit

- Vague market validation — "we have potential customers" is not validation. "We have 150 paying users generating ₦800,000 monthly revenue" is validation

- Missing the deadline — August 19 feels far but iDICE programmes are competitive across all of Nigeria. Apply in the first two weeks

If you are not yet at post-MVP stage, apply for the Founders Lab instead. If you have traction and are ready to scale - the Growth Lab is the right programme.

iDICE Founders Lab vs Growth Lab — What's the Difference?

Many people confuse these two programmes. Here is the clear difference:

The Founders Lab is for founders at idea to early MVP stage. It offers up to ₦10 million in non-equity grant funding — meaning you keep 100% ownership. The programme runs for 12 weeks and focuses on helping you build and validate your idea.

The Growth Lab is for founders who are post-MVP with real traction. It offers $100,000 in equity investment — meaning iDICE takes 7.5% of your business. It also unlocks up to $250,000 in follow-on investment if you hit growth milestones. The focus is on scaling and raising institutional capital.

If you are still building your product, apply for the Founders Lab. If you have paying users or revenue and are ready to scale, the Growth Lab is the right programme for you.
