YandyTech Innovation Fund 2026 — Women-Led Businesses in Northern Nigeria Can Win Up to ₦500,000 and 4 Months of Free Acceleration
If you are a woman running a business in Northern Nigeria and you have been looking for funding, mentorship and structured support to grow — YandyTech just opened applications for one of the most comprehensive programmes designed specifically for women entrepreneurs across Nigeria's 19 northern states.
The YandyTech Innovation Fund 2026 combines a ₦1,000,000 prize pool with a four-month virtual acceleration programme, expert mentorship, digital tools and a live pitch finale at the YandyTech Community Festival. It is open to women aged 18 to 35 running active businesses anywhere in Northern Nigeria.
What is the YandyTech Innovation Fund?
The YandyTech Innovation Fund is an annual initiative by YandyTech — a Northern Nigeria-based technology and development organisation — designed to address one of the most persistent problems facing women entrepreneurs in the region: limited access to funding, business support and technology.
The 2025 edition already produced real results. The top three winners were Hbdesigns World; a sustainable fashion brand empowering women through eco-friendly clothing, Community Agro Enterprise.. an agribusiness processing nutritious food products, and The Green Empire Oil , a palm oil processing and distribution business. Real businesses, real women, real funding.
YIF 2026 builds on that foundation with the same structured approach — acceleration first, pitch second, funding for the best.
The Prize Pool
Three businesses win funding at the end of the programme:
- 1st Place: ₦500,000
- 2nd Place: ₦300,000
- 3rd Place: ₦200,000
Total prize pool: ₦1,000,000
Beyond the cash prizes, all 15 selected businesses receive four months of acceleration training, business mentorship, advisory support, partner-provided tools and resources, and exposure to funding and partnership opportunities throughout the programme — not just at the end.
Who Can Apply
You qualify if you are:
- A woman aged 18 to 35
- You own and actively run an MSME
- Your business is based anywhere across the 19 northern states of Nigeria
- You are already using technology in your operations — or willing to adopt digital and emerging technologies including AI to scale
The programme is specifically for women who are already running a real business — not an idea stage. You must have an active, operating business to apply.
How the Programme Works — Step by Step
The YIF 2026 journey has four phases:
Phase 1 — Application and Selection
Applications are reviewed based on business viability, scalability and readiness for growth. 15 women-led MSMEs are shortlisted and onboarded into the cohort.
Phase 2 — Four-Month Acceleration Programme
All 15 selected businesses go through a fully virtual four-month programme featuring expert-led sessions, business growth workshops, mentorship, digital tools and partner-supported resources. This is the core of what makes YIF different — you don't just pitch and win, you grow first.
Phase 3 — Virtual Pitching Stage
After the acceleration programme, all 15 participants pitch their businesses virtually. The top 5 advance to the live finale.
Phase 4 — YTC Fest Live Pitch and Final Awards
The top 5 finalists pitch in person before judges and a live audience at the YandyTech Community Festival. The top 3 win the funding awards.
How Your Application Will Be Evaluated
The judging panel evaluates businesses across five criteria:
- Innovation (25%) — how creative and unique is your idea or use of technology
- Impact (25%) — potential for job creation, community benefit and economic growth
- Feasibility (20%) — how practical and sustainable your business model is
- Use of Technology (20%) — how effectively you integrate technology into your operations
- Presentation (10%) — how clearly and persuasively you communicate your business
Innovation and impact together make up 50% of your score. A business that solves a real problem in a creative way and creates meaningful impact for its community has the strongest foundation for a winning application.

Insider Tips for a Strong Application
- Show your business is already working — YIF is for active businesses not ideas. Have your proof of business activity ready — customers served, revenue generated, products sold. The more evidence the better
- Lead with impact — innovation and impact together are 50% of your score. Before describing what your business does, show what problem it solves and who benefits. How many women has your business employed or trained? How many customers have you served? Concrete numbers carry more weight than broad claims
- Address your technology use directly — 20% of your score is specifically about technology adoption. Even if your business is not a tech business, show how you use digital tools — WhatsApp for customer communication, Instagram for marketing, a POS system for sales, a digital inventory system. Any technology use is worth mentioning. If you haven't started yet, show a clear and realistic plan for how you will adopt technology during the programme
- Apply immediately — only 15 businesses are selected from across all 19 northern states. Don't wait for a deadline to be announced
- Prepare your pitch mindset early — even though the pitch comes at the end of the programme, the strongest applicants are already thinking about how to present their business clearly and compellingly. Start practising how you tell your business story in 3 minutes
Common Mistakes to Avoid
- Applying as an idea stage founder — you must have an active operating business
- Being vague about your business model — how exactly do you make money?
- Not mentioning technology at all — even basic digital tool usage should be highlighted
- Describing your community impact in generic terms — be specific about how many people your business has helped, employed or served
- Waiting for a deadline announcement before applying — spaces are limited
